Sold out free show. There was a line up 50-100 people deep trying to get in also..
Larry Edgar does not care and wore this T in the final...
Alex Hiam loved Alley-ooping into this bank
Alex Hiam, Alley-oop whip
Alex Hiam has a signature Colony frame called the "Sweet Tooth"
Alex Hiam making Mat Hoffman proud. Mat was on deck during finals.
Alex Hiam thought he only had two runs in the finals so he was surprised when he had to drop in a third time. He did give it his all one last time though.
Brisbane, Australia crew Jason Watts, Cody Pollard and Alex Hiam. These three have ridden together many times back home.
Ronnie Napolitan was the only one hitting this box jump. 3 drop quicker than the espresso at Rothrock.
UK's Ben Wallace has attended 3 stops now. Malaga, Mexico and the finals in HB. He made the finals at all three as well.
Boyd Hilder was the fastest BMX race kid in Australia at age 10. I'm sure glad he stopped racing or we would not have this switch downwhip image.
Chase Hawk loves steel pegs and slid ice pick grinds all over the course. Can't beat the sound of a steel peg on coping!
Chase Hawk was ripping this pocket so hard by finals day. He's going to miss that setup.
The butcher from Australia - Chris James
Chris James heading into the deep end and into space.
Chris James was a star of the series. We dug him up in Australia and he made his way to Malaga, where he qualified for the HB comp.
Chris James talked about flipping this gap. Actually surprised he didn't give it a go. He's a madman!
Chris James was so amped for High Air. Of course he was! Chris survived the battle with Larry and is spending the next week poolside in Las Vegas with his GF.
Clint Reynolds has a backyard bowl he built with the help of the money he won last year getting 2nd!
The firecracker Daniel Sandoval. Daniel was doing these 540 whips on the hip that were really legit.
Some had Gary Young in first after the event. Not a bad suggestion, he rode so well in prelims and even stepped it up in the finals. Gary is in the best form of his life!
Kevin Peraza is down with riding in Slip-On's
No one has ever gone faster than Kris Fox in a bowl and he proves it time and time again.
Kris Fox has published two books, and a third is in the works.
I thought Kris might of won this one the way he rode. 3 perfect runs and at one point I put my camera down to watch him ride because he was riding so well. 4th place for Kris.
Full commit manual into the deep end. Kris Fox was on in HB!
These two are the best of friends. Jason Watts and Kris Fox. Jason was cheering his boy on in the finals.
Last year's winner Matt Cordova ripping in. Matt slammed pretty hard in practice the day before and limped around ever since. Glad he could still manage to lay this table out for the world to see.
Matty Cranmer missed the entire series with a broken ankle but was back to full strength for the finals in HB, especially with the encouragement of his brother Scotty throughout the event.
Matty, Bigboy and Scotty on deck. These guys are so famous. Leaving the event there were a bunch of people hovering around them after autographs and selfies.
Pat Casey was another guy that was on in HB. He was nailing every run and looked so good out there!
Pat Casey has pet goats. Not even joking. Switch down whip mid run.
Pat Casey got a flat and swore right at me. I really enjoyed watching Pat ride in the finals.
Pat Casey - Alex Hiam
Pat Casey messing around with a Blyther style air at around 10ft
No one can one hand X like Ryan Nyquist
5 truck. Ryan had other plans but he just wasn't feeling it. Sometimes you have to listen to your gut.
Ryan Nyquist - Pocket Suicide
Larry Edgar - Double whip for 2nd place.
Kevin Peraza got on the podium for the first time this series after a few close efforts this year. 3rd place for Kevin!
Feeling for Sergio Layos. Points leader coming into HB, he qualified a little low and came out swinging in the final with a big down-whip transfer and washed out. Sergio picked up the pace in his other runs but it wasn't to be his day. What a great year though, 3 podiums from 4 events from the Spaniard.
Sergio Layos rode all the hips like he was at the trails. Back-to-back combos on every set.
Sergio Layos pocket whip to bank.
Another angle of Dennis' hip to deep-end transfer that was the "Best Line" winner! Dennis warmed up the idea in practice Saturday and after 45 minutes of calculations, he let it rip.
I'm guessing this gap and "Best Line" winner from Dennis Enarson is about 30ft in distance. He added a table in the finals and took the win.
Jason Watts, Kris Fox and Enarson
Larry Edgar won "High Air" once again.. Chris James wasn't far below him though.
Maxime Charveron won "Best Trick" with the giant pocket he did in the qualifier on Friday.
Kevin Peraza - Dennis Enarson - Larry Edgar
The 2017 Vans BMX Pro Cup World Champion, Larry Edgar!!!
